Lukas Maier is a self-taught filmmaker from the suburbs of Vancouver.

After his first short film Memento Mori (2017) he moved to Sarajevo in order to study directing. After dropping out of his Masters program, he independently wrote, directed, filmed, edited, and produced his first feature Darkroom (2021). Darkroom was made with the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts.

 

He is currently working on an experimental 16mm short film titled Propolis (2022) about beekeeping with the generous support of the BC Arts Council.
